The Good, The Bad & The Queen - Green Fields (Honest Johns)
5/5
By: Christiana Spens
'Green Fields' is the best spring record I have heard thus far. It has a beautifully relaxed and drifting quality, eyes to the sky, bare feet in the grass, and calm strumming of guitar like the beat of one's heart when there is nothing to do but lie around and dream of festivals and a summer of love not so far away.
Of all the records I have been playing recently, this is the one I am most attached to, and the one which I play over and over again and don't tire of at all. In the chorus I can hear the leaves rustle in a breeze, the clouds drift, the sun moving slowly over the sky... Until suddenly it is late afternoon and all the time has fluttered away with the tune and all that is left are pictures of green fields in your head and a song that so prettily expresses the lingering happiness of springtime and open spaces filled with people and songs.
Luckily for us, we are only at the beginning of the record, beginning of summer, and the drifting melody will play for months yet. The Good, the Bad & the Queen, I can tell, will be with us on the green fields all summer long.
