Louie – I Know What You're Doing Tonight (Waks)
2/5

I've always had a bit of a problem with bands like Louie, and had them pinned as that sort of post-Libertines bandwagon hopping 'act' that couldn't generate any emotion if they insulted your mother and spat at your dog. Yet, for all their shortcomings, to turn your back on this sort of music simply because it is effectively meaningless is to do yourself a disservice, because surely that is the point, right?
Making no apologies for the fact that they exist solely for people who've had at least six pints to jump mindlessly around to, Louie ply their trade in adequate fashion. 'I Know What You're Doing Tonight' bursts out of the traps in a way that throws up images of scenesters jumping around like Urban Outfitters is closed tomorrow, and for that they should be applauded.
They may possess as much substance as an empty crisp packet, but when it comes to inciting a riot down the local indie disco, they're surely up there with the best (worst?) of them.
