The **** Star Lovers - Richard Walked Right Past

Who said we'd had enough of women signing about blokes they'll never get and having crushes in a bubblegum manner?... OK, well everybody. If this song had come out 10 or 15 years ago it would have been a brilliant one hit wonder for the ladies who've had the privilege to work with people such as Muse and come out of it with a blatantly mid 90s pop song... what a waste.

In a fairytale world, the story of a bunch of 12 year olds that spent five years touring the world until the age of 17 when they have all the biggest promoters in the country getting all hot under the collar - and then turn out to be one of the successful bands of all time - would be a nice one for the kids, but in this case just isn't so. You have to appreciate the youth of The **** Lovers but their lack of life experience is certainly showing in their plastic attempt at poetry turning them into a subordinate Corrs-like Hanson, throwing admittedly amazing vocals around at overdone guitars and pointless drums. Clearly these girls have been treated far too well by the male persuasion as their teenage drones of "you're the older guy in school, the one that everybody wants to pull" is laughable as serious music.

Wow, that was harsh... maybe a little too harsh. This is a great song to hear, not too offensive and wonderfully mischievous, it's got its moments and could work in the right setting, but is certainly never going to be taken seriously, not even we imagine, by the mainstream.
