The Twang - Either Way (B-Unique)

3/5

By: Gareth Roberts

The Twang - Either WayI've got to be honest, I've been more than a little dubious about The Twang ever since they managed to escape Birmingham. Not least - and this may sound incredibly shallow to some, perfectly reasonable to others - they look like the sort of blokes that stand on the street asking everyone if they've had any accidents in the past 12 months, or the sort that knock on your door enquiring whether you need a driveway fitting.

No, when it comes to image these guys are what Coventry City are to football, what Netto is to grocery shopping, what yellow Fruit Pastilles are to the rest of the pack. But, it's all about the music, man. This is where they go at least some way toward redeeming themselves, with driving choruses and a certain dreamlike quality to the sounds buzzing around like teenagers on mini-motos. It's kind of like if a less eloquent Mike Skinner fronted the Happy Mondays back in the days when you could buy Es from every single bar (or so I've heard). In a nutshell, it's... alright.
