The Whip - Divebomb (Kitsune)
4/5
Currently renowned as one of the hardest working bands around, fun-loving dance-rock foursome The Whip have set their sights for total scene domination this summer. The 'Thriller' meets Daft Punk thrash javelin 'Divebomb' shows no sign of this task relenting, and is sure to lure countless hoards of brightly coloured arty types to contort their under-supplemented pale frames into an array of quasi-pretentious rhythmic flaps in clubs and fields nation-wide.
With an aptly crafted but not over-attended layering of dulcet pulses and hypnotizing beeps, and an ends-in-itself synth-sound at centre stage, 'Divebomb' invites the boisterous youth to sport its best screw-face and join in the robotic chemical fantasma-party.
They'll grace the studio this summer to record their debut album, but for now 'Divebomb' is a diligently sugarcoated thunderbolt of a tune to char the ears of the great unwashed alongside the other sprightly new-rave superstars.
