30 Seconds To Mars - From Yesterday (Virgin)

2/5

By: Sofie Jenkinson

30 Seconds To Mars - From Yesterday.jpgFrom its emotional build up, which shamelessly looks towards the prime U2 era the band so obviously covet throughout this track, every note of 30 Seconds To Mars' 'From Yesterday' is deliberately laboured punk pop, reaching it's peak at the over stretched chorus.

Jared Leto's often silky vocal grounds this track a little in something solid, that is until he strains it whilst playing his part in the previously mentioned over stretched chorus. If Lifehouse decided to abandon their beach tussled laid back Aussie pop for something altogether more punk-pop and also recruited The Edge it would probably would sound a little bit like 30 Seconds To Mars. Which is one hell of a confusing and scary thought.

That said, although 'From' Yesterday causes an immediate reaction of hate within the veins, it slowly turns to a feeling of apathy, which could, if not treated very easily turn it into a guilty pleasure for some.
