Anyone who was vaguely familiar with Test Icicles - the best or worst band ever, depending who you ask (its rarely a question that provokes diplomacy in folk) - will no doubt suffer some sort of mild stroke when they hear this song.
Lightspeed Champion is the new venture from Dev of said band fame, and it's an absolute corker. I was rather expecting the chaotic noisefest that characterised his old ensemble, but surprisingly, and with some relief, I was faced with a melodic beauty that calls to mind the likes of The Sleepy Jackson and The Dears. 'Galaxy of the Lost' is a rich, well thought out number that is almost certainly a contender for single of the year.
The only fragment of Dev's previous incarnation comes in the form of the sensuous lyric, "when we're kissing I'm sick in your mouth." Lovely.
