Thank goodness! Nine Black Alps are back! Remember them? For a while their debut album 'Everything Is...' was de rigueur for Ben Sherman shirt wearing teenagers on the wrong side of the cutting edge; hip for people who don't like music, and essential listening for those who wear their collars high and hair short, go to gigs once a year for special occasions and sing every f**king word as loud as they f**king can.
Inexplicably signed to Island Records, which itself presently (proudly?) includes Keane, the Bravery and Celine Dion on its books, the Manchester based quartet has crawled back to present their new single 'Burn Faster'. Sharing the name with the group's new album, the track drones on only occasionally changing, perhaps out of boredom, perhaps out of design, the lyrics spew on about boy-meets-girl coming of age stuff, sounding like a puerile Tim Wheeler but lacking the riffs that made early Ash halfway decent.
I need a drink!
