Tunng - Bricks (Full Time Hobby)

5/5

By: Chris O'Toole

Tunng - Bricks'Bricks' is taken from Tunng's new 'Good Arrows' album, and follows directly from the critically acclaimed 'Comments of the Inner Chorus'. The track is a campfire anthem, but not in the Scouts sense, all badges and home cooked cookies. This is a camp fire surrounded by wise hippies mixing herbs you have only read about on illegal Internet sites and heard your older friends talking about in giddy tones. A camp fire on mountain tops, hundreds of miles away from the cities, where maids dance in the woods; literally all bells and whistles. A sing-a-long anthem in the making!

A pure pop track, 'Bricks' begins slowly but builds into a twisted carnival; springs exploding, leftfield gurgling surround childish, naive vocals to create something that fairly reeks of innocence and beauty; overflowing with happiness and optimism. It is built from samples and loops but maintains a thoroughly human element, instantly memorable and instantly accessible.

A wonder, and a must should summer ever arrive.
