Arcade Fire - No Cars Go (Sonovox)

3/5

By: Gareth Roberts

When it comes to writing about Arcade Fire, it almost feels like a pointless process. A dictionary search for all recognised superlatives would yield only a re-hashing of what thousands of journalists have penned before. Therefore I'll keep it brief.

'No Cars Go' was originally a prime cut from their debut E.P, a song the band clearly felt was good enough to warrant its own time in the limelight, so they re-recorded it, sanded off the rough edges and gave it pride of place on the now near seminal 'Neon Bible'.

It of course goes without saying that it's an excellent tune, but amid all the bands genius and whispers that they could be the second coming in the form of multiple beings, one can't help but feel a little short changed by what is tantamount to a re-release. But you know, like I have inferred in not so uncertain terms, its good. So we'll let them off.
