The Courteeners – Cavorting / No You Didn’t, No You Don’t (Loog)

The latest band to boast the tag of 'Manchester's next big thing', The Courteeners are certainly making waves in the city at present.
Kind of like the Maccabees fronted by Liam Gallagher, the band manage the age-old tricky task of merging brains with a sense of brawn. Aptly named singer Liam Fray certainly has a knack of delivering quotable lyrics - "your club is full of over-rated, dehydrated, goggle eyed girls / and they're trying to stare at me but their eyes are rattling and they're struggling to see."
Accompanying track No You Didn't, No You Don't' is a nod in the direction of Babyshambles, a jaunty pop song that Doherty would be writing if he weren't always so... distracted. They may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they've certainly got the potential to go the distance.
