Bearsuit sound like the musical equivalent of a happy childhood; one spent holed up in a bedroom listening to all the best influences up for offer and emerging years later in a cloud of whimsy and noise.
'More Soul Than Wigan Casino' dwells on the brighter side of percussion and shares some of the shameless enthusiasm of Tilly and the Wall and the like; bands that like to either dress up or act up.
With soaring vocals accompanied by a general feeling of 'name that instrument', there are moments when the song veers dangerously close to musical calamity. However even if you find yourself arguing with friends over whether 'More Soul Than Wigan Casino' sounds like musical genius a beat too fast, or something akin to a marching band gone backwards, you have to ask yourself; in the event of either conclusion, what's not to like?
