Feist - 1, 2, 3, 4 (Polydor / Universal)
4/5
Mark Ronson's new favourite girl creates an innocent and intricate embroidery of melodic saccharine vocals and playful instrumental animals sewn onto a calf length pleated skirt worn by the kind of song who rides a baby blue bicycle with a big basket.
If a cherry could sing its way out of a fruit bowl, it would sound like this. The sunny day chorus is delicately catchy and the cartoon trumpet solo that follows turns the middle eight into a dreamscape of distant harmonies and a fantasia of self effacing brass.
