The Envy Corps - Rhinemaidens (Vertigo)
2/5

Picture the scene... BBC Radio One Studios... The Envy Corps' single arrives in the post bag...
Fearne Cotton and Edith Bowman missed it because they were fighting over the Claire's Accessories discount card, neglecting the fact that they're two fully-grown women and not the pre-adolescents they present themselves to be.
Zane Lowe didn't play it because he couldn't work a pun involving German rivers and Bruce Dickinson into his faux-beatnik-hipchat-Tim-Westwood-dictionary-of-indie gibberish.
Jo Whiley might have sniffed around it for a bit, but she was busy accepting the plaudits for kick-starting James Blunt's stellar career, thus far.
As for Chris Moyles, well, he was too occupied with coming up yet more entirely unfunny things to say.
Which was a shame for this Canadian act, because this is exactly the kind of mid-paced, middle-of-the-bill fodder that mid-day Radio One fists its mother for. Sadly, a complete and utter non-event.
