Stars - The Night Starts Here (3rd Floor)
4/5
By: Alex Lee Thomson
Stars are one of humanity's most underrated bands and a band who can boast a song writing skill to rival the likes of The Smiths or REM, and this is one of their best songs. It might be a tad wishy-washy in places, but with a vocal that makes candles flicker brighter than ever and a melody so sweet it could be part of a pick 'n' mix at your local Tesco, 'The Night Starts Here' is a worthwhile track for anybody not yet familiar with this incredibly gifted band.
Part of their 'In Our Bedroom After The War' saga (LP, whatever), the track is focused around the initial rebellion and downfall of society as told through the eyes of a haunted musical youth who find beauty in all of life's trails, as this band does. Stars are the American Beauty of bands and this song is their wafting plastic bag. Love this song with all of your breath.
