Love Ends Disaster! - Suzanne / Dinosaur (This is Fake DIY)

4/5

By: Alex Pyper

Love Ends Disaster - Suzanne / DinosaurThere is a poignant moment during the day after the evening before, when one's hangover begins to recede and the realization that perhaps last night was actually quite fun materializes. You with me? Ok, well 'Suzanne' is the song of that moment. With an epic astral quality set alongside murmured, almost confessional vocals, it peaks with choral highs and frantic drumming. Like the gentle monster, whilst roaring with operatic proportion, it unveils a weary and almost whispered message of hymnal pleading that Embrace would be delighted to steal.

The other half of this double a-side release: 'Dinosaur', as the name suggests, rampages its way through (according to the band), an 'expression of respect and reverence for Elton John.' More fittingly, expect bared teeth and killer hooks amid a frenzy of melodic pauses and heavy rock-outs. It sounds like Love Ends Disaster! have created the mutant offspring of Feeder and perhaps coincidentally, Dinosaur Jr.

"What's that coming over the hill!?" I hear you cry. Fear not- Sonic Youth's love juice is in there too, and the result is a Jurassic rip-roaring rock/pop journey. Definitely my favourite of the two.
