The Go! Team - Wrath of Marcie (Memphis Industries)
3/5
By: Alex Pyper
Carrying on with a theme of summerific revelry, 'Wrath of Marcie' sees The Go! Team continuing to earn their exclamation mark.
With their return, and a second album Proof of Youth, they appear to have found their voices - putting them to good use in exclaiming jubilant choruses amid a polished yet joyfully chaotic (or indeed chaotically joyful) swell of brass driven pop.
The full and somewhat epic bass might sound more at home in a apocalyptic neo-classical rap song, but when sitting alongside the sparkling and chiming texture that may well have been stolen from daytime children's TV, it adds a sense of direction to the song that will get people dancing.
This will keep the fans smiling, although detractors should note that there is no real difference to previous releases, with the main brass hook sounding suspiciously familiar. However, this is still a blast of what The Go! Team do best; it should provide the perfect antidote to seasonal affective disorder, lifting spirits throughout the bleak mid winter.
