With a crack the track opens and British Sea Power flood back in the world, high atop a lustrous wave of gentle sounds. A spectrum of subtleties, this single hints at something truly awe inspiring and majestic yet to come from this band.
The mystery of post-rock intervals echo as do moments of classically tinged spirit and rough British charm, whipping up all the loose ends of a year past and a new one about to begin. 'Waving Flags' almost sweeps you away in a cocktail of melancholic reflection, fresh, new hope and the kind of excitement that is both scary and wonderful in equal measure. An anthem for moving forward with a respectful nod to the past.
