Sine Star Project - Bleeding Like a Dog (Blood Light)
2/5
By: Chris O'Toole
'Bleeding Like a Dog' is the first single to be taken from Sine Star Project's new album Building Humans. Their sound has evolved only slightly since their One Little Indian debut - Blur Born Earth Boy - in 2006, and consequently their second effort again brings a similar Muse-lite offering to the table.
Backed with a cover of Bjork's 'Army of Me' - a top ten hit in 1995 for the Icelandic chanteuse - the single is melodramatic in the extreme - filled with pomp and grandeur on a miniature scale. While Peter J. Croissant (seriously) has been working on his Matt Bellamy impression, down to the "Evolution/Destruction/Revolution" rhymes, and could now storm a karaoke contest pretending to be his idol, the accompanying piano and guitar lacks the sparkle and imagination that have moved Muse into a premier stadium position.
However, the track is packed to the gills with ambitious bombast that generally fails to deliver. The chorus employs an entire 35 piece brass ensemble, and the outro attempts to create the impression of an interstellar journey - one this muted track never even comes to taking the listener on.
