Is it a worrying symptom of our ever accelerating media culture that Los Campesinos! already feel like last year's hype band? Shouldn't we all be listening to Foals by now?
Still, the second single since shout-a-thon 'You! Me! Dancing!', Death To Los Campesinos! thrusts itself out as eagerly as a recently enlisted Jesus Army recruit, with everything, right down to its guitar solo, sounding egregiously cheerful.
Putting aside the fact he was a caricature of an ignorant moron, these are exactly the 'fookin stoodunts' Paul Calf was railing against, particularly when they decided to rhyme 'botany' with 'dichotomy', not to mention their desires to pretend that they're robots.
I blame Bis, I blame BBC schools programming, I blame Cosmo & Dibs, 'Let's Pretend', Blue Peter and Rod, Jane and f**king Freddie, but most of all I blame myself for being too old and cynical to even begin to enjoy this pop record.
