Mystery Jets - Young Love (679)
5/5

To those who were cool enough to have been listening in their school music lessons, there's an oft-referenced musical format know as 'question/ answer' structure. Well in 'Young Love' we have the Mystery Jets displaying this technique in fine form with the help of Laura Marling and a bittersweet tale of, you guessed it, young love.
It would be hard at the best of times to fault, let alone actively dislike the Mystery Jets, and this latest slice of Eel Pie life doesn't disappoint. There's enough going on with quirky beats and diverse vocal happenings to keep a more demanding listener interested, whilst the sweet simplicity of the lyrics and melody are catchy enough to hum to subconsciously.
Laura Marling's beautiful vocals add a gentle touch to the enthusiasm that is the percussion and bass line, and the result is three and a half minutes of pure joy. If you like the Mystery Jets, get your hands on 'Young Love'. If you don't, try it anyway-you could then at least pretend it's already summer, and you're having a good time. Instead of doing whatever it is you're doing at the minute.
