The Corrections - Barcode (EMI)

3/5

By: Ailsa Caine

The CorrectionsThe Corrections- it's almost a brave move to begin your band name with 'the' now, such is the speed with which the name can be confused/ forgotten or simply slip unnoticed somewhere between The Courteeners and The Connells.

However it would be a shame if this were the fate of The Corrections. Whilst 'Barcode' is not vastly dissimilar to many of the other guitar bands out there, it does posses a certain enthusiasm and intelligence which encourages you to find out what else The Corrections have to offer. The track itself is a mix of jumpy guitar whilst the vocals slur over the top, providing melody and that all important catchy hook which keeps you humming.

There is some way to go for The Corrections, the lyrics are a bit thinly stretched and you feel that Winter was born a musician, not just a vocalist. However for a band launching themselves into a scene which is almost at bursting point, and with new indie boys cropping up every week, The Corrections might just have the goods to fend off the competition.
