FlyKKiller - Shine Out Shine Out (FLYKKLLR)
3/5

If you have ever been to a Spanish disco, you should be able to identify with what I am saying about this track - it all seems very euro-dance. I'll paint you the scene: It's about 3am, it's a club in the heart of the Costa del Sol and there are British tourists - both male and female - drunkenly gyrating as the thumping 80's synth bass line kicks in.
Churchill would be proud.
Then a series of 'yeah yeah yeah's start, which quickly speed up into that annoying chipmunk vocal thing that, oddly, nobody has outlawed yet. After this, the actual song starts - there's a girl, of course, and she has a sort of desperate undertone throughout, supplemented by the pained lyrics. The fast paced beats fuse with high tech electro sparks to create a furious circuit board of sounds.
The whole thing has a definite 80's ring to it, think Gary Numan or the Eurythmics, early Massive Attack if you're pushing it. Yet in contrast, the razor sharp electro beats bring it right into the here and now, pat it on the back and set it on its way.
This is the kind of tune that I probably would enjoy, if I found myself in one of the settings described in paragraph uno, to use the Spanish. Sure, by itself I'm not quite as convinced. Maybe it'll work in another setting though - it's on the iPod for the the few days a year I feel the urge to go jogging.
