Cage The Elephant - Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked (Relentless/DSP)
4/5

Indeed, there is no rest for ANYONE these days. With more music being blurted in our ears through every modern medium capable of omitting any sound whatsoever, sometimes it just sounds like a whole lotta' racket and fuzz to me, y'know?
That is until you clutch onto Cage The Elephant's latest single 'Ain't No Rest for The Wicked', a more organised racket to be fair, yet one that fumes the filthiest modern blues while gruntin' and twangin' it's way into your rock inclined heart.
With a slide guitar intro and its beckoning lyrical content (front man Matt Shultz ponders the motivation of societies less conventional fortune hunters) 'Ain't No Rest for the Wicked' is a wonderful slice of social realism that brews brilliantly in a vivaciously churned rock'n'roll stew. Don't rest until you listen to this.
