The Long Blondes - Guilt (Rough Trade)
4/5
By: Natasha Arico
Mixed by legendary, hit-machine producer Dan Carey of Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand and Kylie fame, The Long Blondes' second single to be taken from their (indie) chart storming second LP Couples will have you jiving along totally blissed out by steady rhythm and Cardigan-esque pop sentiments that surround the light sung melody of Kate Jackson.
The emotion tuggingly titled Guilt is a catchy strut for the Sheffield five piece into Blondie jive land, where the disco tempo coupled with Jackson's un-sympathising confidence makes for one incredibly potent pop song that conjures thoughts of sweet summer romances. Evidently, less electro-laden than previous single 'Century' it's refreshing to hear the much-doted on outfit bring it down a notch, if only for this one delightful tune.
