those dancing days - run run

Their Myspace page describes them as 'sweet as apple-pie pop, from Stockholm' and that seems like a pretty apt summing up to me. But I feel it only necessary to add that while they are undoubtedly poppy there is an unrelenting layer of the macabre here - listen to the lines "kill a flower in someone's garden / but I don't care, I am free..." Told you.

'Run Run' is a well baked demonstration of the band's multi-faceted pie pop sounds. Kicking off with a rocky intro, there's a heavy bassline melted into the background before it's Lisa's turn on the synth as she starts her melodious yet slightly repetitive bar ahead of the arrival curly haired lead singer Linnea with her nasal tones tat sounds worryingly a little like Pink... but do not let that minor point put you off these Scandinavian popettes. This is quite lovely stuff.

The B-side 'Home Sweet Home' has a Jamaican quality, the keys (or at least I think it's the keys) sound very much like a steel drum, the opening is slow and methodical - like a 60's rock song - and Linnea sounds less like Pink this time. It might even be as palatable as the A-Side.
