White Denim - All You Really Have To Do (Full Time Hobby)
4/5

While a significant proportion of the musical world is making increasingly multi-coloured pop music as bouncy as a trampoline filled with tropical juice, a different group of folks over in the USA are making a more fuzzed-up and noisy type of sound: its own colour scheme being closer to blue, black and white.
One collection of individuals in this bracket is White Denim, a garage rock trio from Texas. Less noisy and futuristic than some of their peers, 'All You Really Have To Do' is a much more retro affair which demonstrates another groove-driven rock and roll outing to follow the radio smashing 'Let's Talk About It' released earlier this year.
This track's full of the tight rhythmic punk of the Minutemen, but at the same time it's as loose and psychedelic as Zeppelin - albeit it a modern day version, full of all kinds of e-numbers and computers strapped to faces. Song-wise, it's hectic as hell, catchy as influenza and over before you even realize it started.
Not for the faint hearted, these are some fine young newbies you can really sink your teeth into. Believe the hype.
