The Music - The Spike (Polydor)
1/5

Rockfeedback enjoys striving for journalistic integrity, and so we must point out that The Music's self titled debut album was, let's not forget, extremely well received and for many people offered a new take on stadium sized garage rock anthems. And it was certainly preferable to Kasabian.
But, as 'The Spike' filters into our ears in a haze of camped up Ian Brown whisper/ spoken word strain amongst a backdrop of harmonics and a bass line so funky it's almost a Flight of The Concords pastiche, we remember all the reasons we dislike The Music. So much so in fact it made us almost think we never liked music. Bastards.
Seriously this track, upon listening, manifests existentialist thought so bleak... we were gonna go on but it's all so pointless.
