Thanks Joe Mount. I got that far on my own after listening to 'Heartbreaker'. I know the whole song already.
'Metronomy' have definitely unleashed their most accessible track to date with this one; the lyrics are so (disappointingly?) simple that everyone and their mum will be able to sing along. That said and done, 'Heartbreaker' is undeniably catchy - the opening moments of squeaky door noise, Echo And The Bunny Men-esque bassline and retro synth lines set us up for step back and a step forward. There is also a whistley melody that your dad will latch on to in no time.
Yeh; family crisis. Your parents are going to be into Metronomy. Bugger.
'Heartbreaker' springs my mind back to greats such as Huey Luis and The News and Talking Heads in the same way that The Mystery Jets have re-vamped themselves as true 80's kids, I feel that Metronomy may have begun to explore similar musical areas.
Is this just tapping into a pop culture trend? I don't think so. I have faith in Metronomy. 'Heartbreaker' is a hit.
