Cut Off Your Hands - Expectations (679)
3/5

Gone are the times when New Zealand's most famous export was either lamb (not the band), or Crowded House. You'll now find Flight of the Conchords, Die! Die! Die!, Operator Please and here, Cut Off Your Hands making waves on this, the other side of the world.
This new single from the Kiwi quartet is certainly primed to appeal to a British market, sitting comfortably alongside the likes of Look See Proof and Late of the Pier. 'Expectations' is a ménage a trois of sounds - chaotic bleeps and weird and wonderful disco noises are juxtaposed with the sharp yet soothing vocals of front man Nick, also joined in the bed by an almost quintessential set of do do doo do doo's.
There is an odd confusion of sound towards to end, but heck, if nothing else it gives the song a bit extra. I'm a fan - like previous singles it's a good indicator that the Bernard Butler-produced album will be a rather joyous affair.
