When the mighty KOL came out it was among an American invasion, striding aside bands like White Stripes and The Strokes. There was a sense that they were riding the coattails of bigger and better bands, especially as they were nobodies in the US at the time. They went away, made an unconsciously great second album before storming back in 2007 with one of the biggest rock LPs of the year. Now they return once more with this track, a monster rock gem so beyond the incredible.
It's huge, earnest and dynamitic. It has a silly title. It shows a band who have figured out the formula for writing great rock songs... we mean, they've nailed it. Vocally, musically, structurally and emotionally up there with the genius of The Boss himself, this is beyond doubt one of the best pieces of music of 2008.
(Yeah, but it's not *better* than Springsteen, is it? - Ed.)
