Gently lifted from their new album Fascination, 'The Geeks Were Right' is a simple, paint-by-numbers single that - fair enough - does all that a new single should.

The funky square bass that sounds like any preset pattern on a run-of-the-mill synth is the only thing that puts this song in the band's 'new rave' pigeon hole, as other than that it's very much akin to the sound of Midnight Juggernauts latest offering Into The Galaxy. 'The Geeks Were Right' is only an average song, but remains a grower for some unknown reason - every time I hear it I get a tiny bit more into it, despite the fact that I kinda resent its simplicity.

Although a bit forgettable, 'The Geeks Were Right' is a pretty fun little ditty, though you have to wonder whether it's a case of delivering too little, too late. Has the world moved on from this sound? Sadly for The Faint, it might be the case that the new rave / electroclash ship has sailed, or at least found itself a better captain.
