An amalgamation of some listener friendly ska punk with a strong political undercurrent, The King Blues are a bit like Jamie T meets Question Time - 'cept David Dimbleby isn't there for an timely butt-in to stop the tirade.

'Save the World, Get the Girl's opening violin charms the listener in to a traditional falling bass line, reggae style slow drumming surrounded by triplet acoustic guitar strums. The strings return for the chorus to give a full on sound, but the track itself is not enough to really separate The King Blues from the pack.

It's the lyrics and delivery of them that achieve that however, as Johnny Fox gives that inkling of passion and a bit of fire in his belly as he works his way through the wrongs in the world. Further evidence can be found in the video as they put their money where their mouth is playing at the anti war protests something heavily singled out mid song.

Jamie T comparisons are easy to make as there is the same cockney style twang, but where Jamie T is more subtle and personal on social commentary, The King Blues are more brazen and generalist giving a full on attack. Further dimension is expressed in the Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip remixed 'What If Punk Never Happened?' as although still highly politically charged there is the element of fantasist concept which is intriguing, revealing mass knowledge of punk history and its influence on popular culture.

Recession is here again, and if history is anything to judge by you'll be hearing a lot more from the punks in months to come.
