The Prodigy - Omen (Take Me To The Hospital)

3/5

Dirty bass, brash abrasive electro lead hooks, eerie xylophone cycles to boot - yes, The Prodigy are back to doing what they do best, beating your ears with a barrage of Keith's venomous vocals and break beats.

It's very nicely nostalgic, especially when the bass cuts away to reveal the old skool drum n bass style cycle sitting underneath, but are they still relevant after their long absence? Well, one could say, of course they are, after all, over the past few years acts like Pendulum have been quite happily living off their legacy and at the moment every man and his dog seems to be making club dance, crossover, electro, remixes, and so on. It's the perfect time to make a comeback.

'Omen' along with the previously released 'Invaders Must Die' are very 'Prodigy' tracks though, and one side of me, like some spoilt child always looking over the fence, was wondering whether this comeback would bring a new sound with it. But the other side of me, the side that's right, thinks if it ain't broke, why fix it?
