Metric – Help I’m Alive (Last Gang)

3/5

By: Hayley Leaver

Metric'Help I'm Alive' is the tangy new single from Canadian indie kids Metric, their synth-filled, not-quite-four-minute return to the musical world. "I tremble," Emily Haines coos, "They're gonna eat me alive," easing into what builds up to an indie-electro pile-up.

While it might not be the band's strongest offer when compared to 2005's 'Live It Out', this single will certainly satisfy any cravings for wild hurling-around-the-dancefloor moments. Haines' creepily soft vocals make her sound entirely convincing when she sings, "hard to be soft / tough to be tender," over the burly guitar riffs thumping throughout.

Unlikely to fly up any pop charts, this is Metric preparing to wow with their glossy indie pop; synths a-blazing and pulses racing.
