When you're the band responsible for putting a bomb under the "New Rock Revolution" and leading a stampede back to the dancefloor, how do you stay relevant against the tidal wave of 80's referencing new turks who follow?
According to new single 'No You Girls', Franz Ferdinand's answer is,"If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Unfortunately, although the old formula of angular guitars, stomping glammy rhythms and shout along choruses ain't exactly broke, it is starting to resemble a clapped out Morris Minor alongside the likes of MGMT's shiny, pan-dimensional star-cruiser.
As the Vince Clarke mix of 'No You Girls' shows, Franz Ferdinand still retain a solid grasp of the basics for ass-shaking indie-dance monsters - they just need a bit of help putting a new spin on the old sound.
Maybe it's time to get on the blower to Xenomania again lads.
