'You're a beautiful audience... But you're not as good-looking as us...'

When rockfeedback first predicted an Australasian re-awakening to spread overseas early last year, little did we know just what this would quite envisage. The Vines, The Datsuns, The Sleepy Jackson, The Rock 'N' Roll Machine, The D4, Alex Lloyd - just a few of the varied names of performers and acts that have strode forth from their far shores and entered the hearts and minds of an adoring British (and beyond) public. They couldn't be more welcome.
The Casanovas are the latest in this extravagant shortlist to compel and generate a fervent buzz. A mere three-piece, their prowess and stance may be distinctly good-time rock 'n' roll, but there's so much evident musicianship (blimey, they even do a bass-solo) and songs that their live-notoriety deserves more than just a 'scene'-tag or association.
It's all in that roaring, unashamed, bash-crash vein - no pretension or petty shoe-gazing - it's proud showmanship and squealing frets-drivers 'til the end. They wear white boots. Have a song called 'My Good Looks'. And feature a drummer that resembles an insurance-broker. What's not to love?
By the time them and their Tim Wheeler/Josh Holmes hybrid of a frontman gyrate and gesticulate to a frightfully exciting ending, there's blood on hands, rolling on the stage and the likes of the stop-start franticness of 'Heartbeat' and '... Doctor Ordered' still ringing in ears. Sure, this stuff ain't likely to stir a revolution. But it more than justifies the notion that, after years of being unjustifiably ignored by outsiders, now the Antipodeans are here - there's no way they're gonna budge from the spotlight... And who'd want them to anyway?
The Casanovas: prepare to fall in love yourself.
