Justin Hawkins isn't noted for his humility. However, if The Darkness did decide to recruit some extra ground troops in their battle with Keane they could do worse than enlist the services of fellow Suffolk-ers The Vaults.
Promoting their forthcoming EP 'Friday Night/Monday Morning Blackout', The
Vaults' live show is an unabashed homage to every classic hard rawk of the last 30 years. A sweaty, non-stop hollering barrage of phallic guitar-wielding and tunes with names like 'From The Grave' and 'Lady Hell', this sure ain't rocket science.
What this does represent, however, is unrestrained, unpretentious good times -gloriously unfashionable and all the more enjoyable for it. The Vaults aren't likely to be considered chic by the high society London types; as if hailing from the vast, desolate, terrifying planes of East Anglia wasn't enough to scare the cool people away, then their amalgamation of AC/DC, Deep Purple, Motorhead Iron Maiden et al
probably will be. Loads of fun for everyone else though, mind.
