Young Guns were a late addition to tonight's proceedings, as In Case of Fire had to drop out at the last minute. Perhaps it was jubilant exultation at scoring such a high profile gig that sent them literally bouncing like 5 tiggers wearing man-suits onto the stage. Relentlessly energetic, it was impossible not to start tapping along to the boys' collection of chorus-building rock weaponry. Nominated for Kerrang's Best Newcomers Award, we'll certainly be hearing more of Young Guns.

Having left the stage not so much warmed up, but blisteringly hot in the Britiish summer's OTT response to complaints of too much rain, Fightstar solemnly processed onto the stage to moody visuals and ear-piercing shrieks of glee from the crowd.

Unsure what to expect as a first time attendee, I found myself actually quite taken with their particular breed of rock-pop-metal... the band were as tight as Thelma and Louise, bristling with excess energy to be burnt off through the medium of song. Times have very much changed for the ex-Busted frontman - only one signature knee-tucking jump, and his vocal texture has more in common with a grit-mixer now than the previous smooth-as-butter. In a set replete with on-stage stripping, murderously pummeling visuals and beats, and a seemingly endless supply of crowdsurfers, Fightstar showed that past careers can be nothing more than a convenient boon to your fanbase, and not at all limiting in genre and credentials.
