Various Acts - 'Late Night Tales: Turin Brakes' (Azuli)

Various Acts - 'Late Night Tales: Turin Brakes'Kind of like the 'All Back To Mine' series. But quieter.

Reading like a playlist to a 'Whispering' Bob Harris' gently exquisite late Saturday night radio-show, predictably, Turin Brakes' choice-tunes constitute a right old mixed bag, taking in much draaawling blues, soporific jazz noodling, country, 2am wine-bar piano, lethargic acoustic workouts and the odd leftfield gem (Silver Jews' wry 'Send In The Clouds' and Smog's 'Cold Blooded Old Times', which also appeared on the 'High Fidelity' sound track).

Elsewhere, Talk Talk's solemnly atmospheric 'I Believe In You' is included; can the Balham duo's compilation do for them what Gary Jules did for Tears for Fears and 'Mad World? Probably not, actually. Finally, we're treated to a cover of The Rolling Stones' 'Moonlight Mile', the closing track on the Stones' 1971 LP 'Sticky Fingers', and - just case anyone's dozing off - the booming voice of corpulent thesp Brian Blessed reading from Patrick Neate's 'The White City'.

Interesting enough, thus, although wholly unlikely to attract a huge audience outside of Turin Brakes completists/hardcore supporters.
