We Were Promised Jet Packs – Roll Up Your Sleeves (One Little Indian)
3/5
By: Dickon Stone
Oh how I enjoy Scottish accents. There is just something honest about them. I don’t know. They are nice though, aren’t they…
‘Roll Up Your Sleeves’ starts with energetic guitars and body popping drums follow suit. The verse breaks down to rim rattles and vocals with that warm accent and a pounding kick drum; lyrics about sleeping in winter and other comfortingly melancholy subjects.
Rising through short choruses, long rim tapping verses and into a calamitous slightly thrashy, noise climax that then dissolves into a piano backed, rolling tom hit, melodic breakdown which leads prettily out of the track.
A soothing blend of balls-out-rock and nights-in-atmospherics.
