A little too intense for my taste, I feel as if I have been caught up in the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack with this album. It’s accomplished of course, and the strong, taut sounds of the various instrumental tracks are undeniably powerful.
More modern classical than indie rock, the tracks are moody, narrative affairs, and certainly interesting, even thought provoking. But I feel as though this is movie music without the movie. I can imagine they would be good live – but as a record to listen to alone and without any visuals or company, it’s a little enigmatic for its own good.
