Jack Penate – Pull My Heart Away (XL)

4/5

By: Tim Smith

After discovering he doesn't have to dance like a douche to get people's attention, Jack Penate really has returned with an impressive collection of delicate pop anthems on his second album Everything Is New.

Paul Epworth's producing throughout the album is superb on Pull My Heart Away.  The reverb on the guitars seems to linger as if mimicking Penate's slightly mournful lyrics. He's not left torn on a platform anymore - he's actually in a situation that we can all understand and relate to and suprisingly, it's fantastically told.

Having released 3 singles from this album, Penate is establishing himself as a big time player in British Pop. Frankly Jack, you had been a bit of a fool. But now you've undone your top button and don't dance like a prat, I kinda like you. 4 stars
