The Jessie Rose Trip - You Won't Forget Me Boy (Garden Records)

3/5

By: Yousif Nur

With a hip-shake here, a rockabilly shuffle there, plus a deft twirl of rock 'n' roll spirit, The Jessie Rose Trip are the debut release by the Secret Garden Party festival's offshoot record label, Garden Records. Just why they'd want to put out records in times of financial uncertainty despite the fact they're doing rather well for themselves in the gathering of people in tents for a weekend of debauchery and other frolics is beyond me, but that's neither here nor there.

On to the matter of the single, 'You Won't Forget Me Boy' is the musical embodiment of dessert as comfort food, gorging itself on 50s rockabilly hooks – close your eyes and you can almost picture polka dot dresses and sharply dressed, suited and booted lads as an accompanying and able backing band.
