Tender Trap – Do You Want A Boyfriend? (Fortuna Pop!)
3/5
By: Ben Smith
If you’re not too vain, and maybe have a brain, you could be the perfect partner for Tender Trap. New single ‘Do You Want A Boyfriend?’, taken from recently released LP Dansette Dansette, pulls together classic 60’s inspired girl group pop with modern day indie, adding a great infusion of backing vocal harmonies to front-woman Amelia’s dainty lead, sitting prettily atop some pretty filthy guitars.
Their former bands Heavenly and Talulah Gosh were championed by John Peel, and with witty plays on words and direct mentions of The Jesus And Mary Chain, you certainly know where you stand with Tender Trap. ’Do You Want a Boyfriend’ is an instantly likeable crack at indie pop, but b-side ’The Sum and the Difference’ slams in with more of a punk inspired edge, like Tender Trap’s take on The Ramones.
