Pivot aren’t back. Well, they are, but they’re now called PVT. Cool? Let’s move on.
This song's kinetic slicks and treated voices begin coldly, as if each industrial sample, vocal melody and death rattle snatch of drums are recorded very, very separately before being placed alongside each other - slightly reminiscent of the way Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures was put to tape, but with a lot more fluidity.
The listening experience is still akin to viewing a winter sun reflecting off a rain soaked M1 from behind seven layers of glass, but it's a percussively mathy mix of HEALTH-esque noise and Yeasayer’s warm experimentation, like the natural progression we hoped Battles would take after Mirrored.
