Maybe it's a sign of getting older (and rest assured that I wouldn't want singer Tim Harrington to hear me saying this) but as time progresses Les Savy Fav seem to be calming down a bit, trading in their older hardcore-influenced material for comparatively more melodic guitar (dare I say?) pop, and this is no bad thing.
One result of this transformation is evidenced by the fact that the immensely catchy vocal hook in the fist-pumping chorus of 'Let's Get Out Of Here' imaginatively states little more than 'ooo, let's get out of here' - whereas the parts of Les Savy Fav's songs which previously stuck in your head may have been the piercing guitar and delay of such tracks as 'The Sweat Descends', the arresting element here is undeniably Harrington's melody.
Ah , that melod!y! So instantaneously memorable, overlaying the intertwined guitar picking in a way that suggest it could quite easily have been penned by The Cribs. Again, don't tell Tim Harrington.
