Das Racist are a pair of rappers from Brooklyn who are currently making some of the most sonically luscious hip hop around. ‘Ha Ha Ha Jk’ is taken from their second mixtape Sit Down, Man, (the follow up to Shut Up, Dude), its wonderful layering of sound recalling Wu Tang’s ‘C.R.E.A.M’ and lackadaisical but considered vocal delivery reminiscent of The Cool Kids way back when everyone was calling them perhaps the best thing ever.
It’s a listen on repeat song from a great LP, with a chorus as tongue-tyingly catchy as that in Blur’s ‘Girls & Boys’ – no mean feat for two guys whose entire shtick seems to be that they can’t really bothered with any of this rapping business whatsoever.
