By: Matt Tomiak

Setlist: 'Madder Red' / 'Rome' / 'Wait For the Summer' / 'Tightrope' / 'Red Cave' / 'Grizelda' / 'Sunrise' / 'Mondegreen' / 'Strange Reunions' / 'O.N.E' / 'Ambling Alp' / 'Children' / '2080'
As underwhelming live experiences in the company of MGMT and Animal Collective attest, critical veneration and a heterogeneous approach to music-making does not automatically translate into a great live show. And this, is a pretty great live show.
Brooklyn fivesome Yeasayer have shared the buzz band limelight with such acts, but seem far less abashed about their mainstream appeal: an unapologetic party band, as well as hipper sources, they seem unabashed about re-introducing kitschy 80s UK synthpoppers Erasure as a viable 2010 influence.
Reminiscing about their past experiences performing at the nearby Barfly venue, Yeasayer aren’t afraid of engaging with an audience or of getting a crowd to move. ‘If you don’t dance to this I’ll quit!’ promises singer Chris Keating prior to ‘O.N.E’, although as The Roundhouse quickly succumbs to its carnivalesque pleasures, he needn’t have worried.
