Post Oasis and minus Noel, it seems Gem Archer, Chris Sharrock, Andy Bell and Liam Gallagher are still suffering from whatever stopped their previous incarnation producing anything relevant or interesting for at least ten years. Sadly, if this (their debut single released as a free download to tickle the public’s fancy ahead of a forthcoming album) is actually the best they can do, then even die hard Oasis fans are going to be left unsatisfied.
Granted, if you see ‘Wonderwall’ as the height of human expression and are thirsting for another drop of nectar from that same Godlike teet, then even though this isn’t going to quench that thirst, it should at least keep you going long enough until the inevitable brotherly reconciliation and reunion tour. If, on the other hand, you believe that things have moved on a bit since 1995, it’ll be as deeply unsatisfying as you expect it to be.
Worth listening to just so you can have an opinion on it whilst in the pub, but that’s never a true compliment now is it?
